Simple Raw Juice Cleanse
Ok - why not start your long weekend with a simple juice cleanse on Saturday. I was inspired by my wife’s dedication to the last three days where she had 6 juices a day, every two hours. She was not hungry at all and was working out twice a day as well.
This particular cleanse was initiated by a gift we got from #TED this year - a free day (6 juices) from @BluePrintCleanse. We had as many...

Your favorite salad lettuce
I am trying out the chat feature of Tumblr and thought I'd start with a question - not sure if anyone is listening.... my favorite is hydro-butter lettuce grown here in Carpinteria. Yours?

Delicious and Easy After Dinner Juice Treat
Making this delicious juice is easy.
I was inspired to make it this evening after watching the movie Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, which really made me glad that we started incorporating juice into our daily diet. See my post on Green Love to read more about our mainstay.
Here are the ingredients (wash them really well):
4 organic Granny Smith Apples (low in sugar),
2 D’Anjou Pears...

No recipe needed - Conversation with @TomCollichio
We had the great privilege of joining Lynda.com founders, Lynda and Bruce, and sponsors of UCSB Arts and Lectures for an Evening with Tom Collichio and it was one of those great evenings that will be remembered by all who attended. I think I saw at least a dozen SB Chefs in attendance.
Tom started by saying he had no notes, no outline, no real format other than he would talk about his...

Best way to start the day - some Green Love
The thing that started this emphasis on raw / live foods was a three day cleanse we did in 2010 that had us eating 4 cups of vegetables each night… took 30 min to prep and 30 min to eat… a friend said, “Why not just juice the vegetables and drink them?” After learning a lot more about this simple statement we ended up learning that not all juicers are created equal and that...

Cashew Milk - so easy to make
We stopped drinking whole milk a long time ago, then got on the soy bus until we learned how it was not any better for you. So, we looked into nut milks at Whole Foods, Trader Joes and other places that cater to a healthy lifestyle. Only problem is when you look at the ingredient list, you are kinda shocked. What is it that Michael Pollen says about foods with long ingredient lists; “If your...

Yet another food blog... yes and no
In November of 2010, just before the holidays my wife and I embarked on what is now known around the house as ‘Raw Til Dinner’. It started simply with a fruit and vegetable cleanse that led to getting a Green Power juicer, which led to getting some books on Raw cooking, which in turn led to a transformational experience for me of eating at Pure Food and Wine in NYC, where I learned...
